Review: Audio-Technica ATH-M50x

I love these new pair of headphones.

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x initial review: tl;dr - It’s sturdy and bassy, if that’s a word. Great all-around headphones.

They weren’t kidding on longevity on this one. The set feels very sturdy and the wires aren’t just detachable–they’ve provided two extra wires for it as well. (longer, and telephone-style cable)
Audio quality is superb as expected. My music library feels fresh once again since I’m hearing stuff that’s been there before but never noticed it with weaker headphones. Definitely rocks on the bass end for this pair, along with good mids and with a good feel on soundstage.
It’s comfortable to wear, although it does feel sweaty at times.
It folds on a smaller form factor, although I hate collapsing it because I’ve broken a good pair of headphones before. I really hope this is sturdier than my last. At least it can be portable.
You can live without the DAC + AMP on these, but it sounds slightly better with them (I use a starter FiiO Q1) I’ll really recommend these, but as usual with headphones–always give it a try first before buying. Remember that the basis for buying good headphones is always dependent on the music you’re listening to, and not by others' tastes in music. My music opinion in these is that it sounds great (the chills!) on epic music, all-around great for everything else, and slightly disappointing for tracks that don’t have much bass in it.
